Lunch Menus

All students in the East Cleveland City School District, from pre-K through 12, receive free breakfast and lunch each day of the school year. Every student, regardless of family income level, in every district school building will receive a Healthy breakfast and lunch and Dinner at no charge each day.

Our Students receive high-quality meals provided by our in house Cooks and dedicated East Cleveland City Schools cafeteria employees.

Why Is the East Cleveland City School District is eligible to provide free breakfast and lunch?

The district participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program and previously accepted Free and Reduced Lunch applications to determine eligibility. Now, ECCS is able to provide this new service, cost-free to the district, through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which is a provision from the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.

CEP is a nationwide program that eliminates the burden of collecting household applications to determine eligibility for school meals, relying instead on information from other means-tested programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

The district is eligible to provide free breakfast and lunch for students for a period of five years (through the 2020-2021 school year) before being reevaluated.

My Children can receive a Hot Dinner Meal at school?

East Cleveland City School District has partnered up with The Greater Cleveland Food Bank to offer “Kids Café”. The Kids Café program provides nutritious afterschool meals daily at no cost to supplement the enrichment and tutoring activities going on at each building here at East Cleveland City Schools.   Meals include entrée, two servings of fruits and vegetables, serving of a grain or bread, and a serving of milk. East Cleveland City Schools is the first district in Cuyahoga County to participate in the hot meal program and each building in the district 5 days a week; with a bagged sandwich meal on Fridays.

Do I still need to submit a Free and Reduced Lunch application?

No. Those applications are no longer needed.

Families do not need to submit Free and Reduced Lunch applications.

A la carte meal items will be available for purchase at the high school and middle schools; including a Salad Bar at Shaw High School. Students must pay for these items with cash or the pre-paid balance on their school account.
