Principal's Message

PRINCIPAL - Heritage Middle School

Greetings Parents and Guardians,

We recently completed the NWEA assessment in the areas of Reading, Math, and Science. After reviewing that data we are predicting growth for all students on the Ohio State Test (OST). As you may know, the Ohio State Testing will begin April 2, 2019, in the area of Reading and April 23, 2019 in the areas of Math and Science. There is nothing to fear related to these tests. Your children, our students are prepared. Some students will be proficient. All students will demonstrate growth.

The first step in preparing for learning or taking an assessment is starting the day with a healthy breakfast. No need to worry if your child leaves home, in the morning, without having breakfast, as Ms. Ann Gabriel, Cafeteria Manager and her staff prepare a healthy breakfast for the students of HMS daily.

The staff of HMS has work hard all year providing challenging lessons to lay the ground work to ensure when our students graduate high school they are career or college ready. Our focus is aligning the Ohio State Curriculum Standards with your student’s interest, while preparing for the test.

Lastly, we need your help. We need you to reassure your child that they are prepared, that they only need to do their best, and that they are not competing with anyone else. Our goal is that they perform better than they did last year. If you have any questions, please call or stop by the school to speak with me personally.

Yours in Education,

Danielle T. Simmons, Ed.S.
