Universal Design for Learning is alive and well at Mayfair Elementary

Kindergarten is a wonderful time of exploration and activity.  Mayfair’s Kindergarteners had to create a page in Pixie by adding images from the Stickers Library that begin with their letter sound.  Next, they had to record a sentence about the letter and the things that begin with that letter. Mayfair’s Kindergartners are interested in learning everything there is to know about the world around them.  Thus, they will continue to explore their world with the use of technology and UDL.  Click here to learn more about the Universal design for Learning

Implementing technology to motivate all learners Students using technology

Technology is everywhere--entwined in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn. With mobile and other wireless devices becoming an increasing requirement across every industry today, it only makes sense that our schools are also effectively deploying mobile technology in the classroom. Chambers recognizes the importance of reaching students through multiple learning styles, student engagement and team collaboration. Technology transforms the learning experience and makes students be more accountable for their own learning through the eyes of technology. Finally, technology empowers students to be more creative and be more connected; new tech has super-charged how we learn today.

2017 Confucius Institute Day AKA Teacher Appreciation Day

Each teacher and school administrator received recognition for their achievements in promoting Chinese education. Students cheered as their schools are represented on stage. Later, it’s the students turn to wow the audience. Multiple classes prepare a performance to show off what they learned about China and their knowledge of the Chinese language. The groups sing, dance, and performed skits, which are truly the highlight of the event.

“Father Essay Poem: What is a Father?”

“Father Essay Poem: What is a Father?”

Our fathers carry half of our genetic makeup. Our relationship with our father plays a huge part of our lives and who we will become as young ladies and young gentlemen. A father is the model or man for his daughter. This will determine what type of man or spouse she chooses. It will also determine what type of man his son will become.

My father Shawn Brown Sr. is the epitome of what it means to be a great father. My father does his best to attend every occasion and program that I am in. He’s a very hard working gentleman because he encourages me to have a growth mindset and try things.

“He never looks for praises. He’s never one to boast. He goes on quietly working for those he loves the most”
