Message from the Administrator of Special Education, Courtney Bean Jones

It is my pleasure to serve East Cleveland City Schools as the Administrator of Special Education. Being a product of East Cleveland City Schools is one of my most gratifying accomplishments. I am honored to have this opportunity to come back to my community to serve in this capacity.

After having such a rewarding experience as a part-time Adult Education instructor for the district in the ‘90s, I began a Master of Education program for Special Education in 2000. In August of 2001 I was hired as a math teacher at Shaw East (Shaw High School’s alternative school). After being in that role for three years I was transferred to Mayfair Elementary School as a 5th grade Intervention Specialist (Special Education Teacher). I had this role at Chambers Elementary School as well. I then travelled back to high school, this time as a social studies Intervention Specialist. During this time I went back to school and obtained a Masters in Administration as well as a Masters in Supervision. In 2008, I transitioned into an administrative capacity, serving as Curriculum Specialist at Heritage Middle School. It was in 2010 that I began my current role as the Administrator of Special Education.

Throughout my journey, I was able to teach and reach the most amazing students, work with incredible teachers, staff and parents, all while gaining valuable experience. It is my belief that ALL children can learn and all children WANT to learn. It is up to us as educators to learn how we can most effectively and efficiently make that happen.

I am humbly here to serve MY school district, the East Cleveland City School District! Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions, concerns or require assistance.
