The Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment is responsible for the development and implementation of PreK-12 curriculum, the selection of textbooks and the delivery of professional development to support the faculty.

We seek to provide rigorous and relevant standards, quality instructional resources and online professional learning materials that will help teachers and instructional leaders prepare students for high school graduation and post-secondary college and career opportunities. The East Cleveland City School curriculum is written by teachers, based on Ohio’s New Learning Standards. These standards incorporate the Common Core and are clearly designed statements and illustrations of what students are expected to know and be able to do. This department also handles various functions relating to curriculum and instruction, along with major district initiatives. Our team is dedicated to serving our students, teachers, staff, and community. Our goal is to support and provide an environment where our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally so they may develop in order to be happy and productive citizens.

  • Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 Curriculum and Instruction
  • Instructional Materials
  • Instructional Programs, Design, Support, and Intervention
  • Supplemental Reading Instruction K-5 (Title One Reading)
  • Gifted/REACH Programming
  • Professional Development
  • English Language Learners
  • Summer School and Summer Intervention
  • Testing and Assessment
