Mayfair Students Learn How to Be Life Savers

Students at Mayfair Elementary School are learning how to save lives…starting as early as the third grade. Through a grant from the American Heart Association, students have recently completed classwork on the two step CPR Hands On method.

“These activities empower our students,” said Shawna LeSure, principal at Mayfair. “These are the skills that promote how what we learn in the classroom can translate to the real world.” Students also learned about the by-stander effect, Good Samaritan laws, and how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED). Upon successful completion of the coursework, students will receive a certificate of completion.
