Shaw High School Freshman Named Teen Engagement Ambassador for MOCA
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Cleveland recently hired a team of high school students to serve as Teen Engagement Ambassadors. Among those selected is Jae'Mahni Hannah, a ninth grade student at Shaw High School.
The purpose of the Teen Engagement Ambassadors at MOCA program is to bring Cleveland-area teenstogether to learn how museums work and gives each teen agency to create new art programming for their peers.
Nominated first by her art teacher, Hannah had to complete an additional application and an interest survey before even being considered for the position. But for Hannah, it was worth it. When finding out that she was selected for the position, she said, “I was really happy because I knew that so many other kids wanted this position.” And as for working in an art museum, Hannah said, “It’s great to be able to be in a space where you can talk about art with other artists.”
