Tackling the Obstacle Course

Throughout the school year, the students at Prospect Academy worked on improving their gross motor skills.  One particular accomplishment was the students participating in an obstacle course.  The students learned how to move their bodies in relationships to objects.  At the same time, they were introduced to prepositions as directions were read: over, under, around, and through.

The obstacle course also helped the students with problem solving skills, as they learned how to maneuver through the course.  Obstacle courses provide students the chance to develop sensory processing skills.  Learning these senses helps with the development of motor skills, coordination, and adaptive skills.
