East Cleveland City Schools Dedicates New Shaw Stadium

In partnership with the Cleveland Browns, the East Cleveland City School District dedicated it’s new outdoor stadium on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

This event marked the completion of the 10th high-quality synthetic turf field installed in Ohio during the past five years, courtesy of the Haslam and Johnson families and Browns Give Back.

Earlier this spring, the Browns, East Cleveland City Schools and the NFL, represented by Commissioner Roger Goodell, welcomed government officials, student athletes, faculty and other special guests at a groundbreaking ceremony during the 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland. The field dedication is the completion of this project.

In attendance at the event were members of the East Cleveland Board of Education, Mayor Brandon King, Ohio Senator Kenny Yuko, and representatives from the Cleveland Browns including players Greg Newsome II and Johnny Stanton IV, and executive vice-president of the Cleveland Browns and member of the Cleveland Browns ownership team, JW Johnson.

The new Shaw Stadium will host a variety of district events including varsity and junior varsity football games, varsity girls soccer games, district field day events for all students, and Shaw High School commencement activities.  The district also plans to use the stadium for music performance events and community gatherings.
